David Trahan, executive director of the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine (SAM) said that organization is pushing a legislative bill to prioritize the purchase of land or easements on deer yards in northern Maine from willing sellers by the Land for Maine’s Future program to provide for more deer hunting. The SAM proposal would send a bond for $35 million for LMF to the voters later this year. The bill was unanimously endorsed this week by the Committee on Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.
