Corporations like Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Starbucks, Nestlé, Unilever, Proctor & Gamble, and more (sadly the list is endless) have been handing us cup after cup, bottle after bottle of lies. Since the 1950s, of all the plastic that’s ever been produced, only 9% of it has ever been recycled. Meanwhile, every minute of every day, all year long, the equivalent of one garbage truck of plastic ends up in our oceans. Urge members of Congress to pass the newly introduced Break Free From Plastic Pollution Act of 2021. This piece of game-changing federal legislation would begin to phase out throwaway plastics made from fossil fuels, hold the plastic industry responsible for its waste, and pause construction on any new plastic-making plants.
