Historic piece of Portland waterfront goes on the market

PORTLAND PRESS HERALD • March 8, 2021

The Poole family, stewards of Union Wharf since the late 1850s, are looking for a buyer who treasures the pier's place on the working waterfront. Built in 1793, Union Wharf is the oldest in Portland, and has welcomed clipper ships, coal steamers and locomotives through the centuries. It’s the first time Union Wharf has been put up for sale in its history. The family hopes to make sure that any buyer is like-minded in terms of keeping the working wharf in place.
