For the first time since before the pandemic, members of the lobster industry from both the U.S and Canada are gathering for what's called the U.S.-Canada Lobster Town Meeting. All sides say that as long as the right whale is at risk, so is the future of the lobster industry. "The whale population has been shifting in the last few years, spending more time in Canada. So, the Canadians have started more recently working on their right whale protections, but have a whole suite of protections in place,” Marianne Lacroix of the Maine Lobster Institute said. “So definitely on both sides of the border, it's an area of concern and something that everyone's paying a lot of attention to."
