I would like to voice my support for saving a part of Maine history: the former Kennebunkport railroad depot. Built in 1881, it is now part of the Pilot House Restaurant and slated for demolition. A new, larger, modern building will take its place. I ask that the former depot, a modest 48-foot-by-20-foot light wooden building, be offered to others before being razed. It could easily be moved and repurposed. It could serve as a new welcome center, like the one at the Nubble Lighthouse. Consider saving something that makes Maine a special place for visitors, including me, to return to time and time again. ~ Steve Lindsey, Keene, N.H.
