There’s a lot of confusion and misunderstanding about the proposed Pine Tree Power. First, it will not be a “government-owned” utility run by politicians. It will be consumer-owned, run by a board of directors elected by Maine residents and the technical experts chosen by them. Second, the terms of the Pine Tree Power referendum call for keeping on all the rank-and-file workers who are currently employed by CMP/Versant, providing two years of bonus pay, and guaranteeing all worker and retiree pensions and benefits. Don’t believe all the misinformation that CMP/Versant is putting out there. They have lots of money to spend on scaring us. Check the facts at ourpowermaine.org.
