Letter: Clean water, air critical for survival, must be protected

SUN JOURNAL • July 17, 2022

Water and air are essential for life. Seventy percent of the world’s surface is covered with water. Only 2.5% is freshwater — not much freshwater for the billions of people on Earth. Dry areas cover 40% of land on Earth, which challenges food production. Power plants contribute tons and tons of pollution in our air and groundwater. The Supreme Court just limited the Environmental Protection Agency’s power to regulate power plant emissions. Regulations protect the environment and humanity’s existence. We need clean air and water to survive. ~ Deanne Danforth, Wilton
