Aroostook County Conservation Association meets

The Aroostook County Conservation Association held a general membership meeting on May 20, the first meeting in 27 months due to the COVID-19 pandemic. President Jerry McLaughlin reported that within the predator management program, 77 coyotes were harvested this past year as compared to 164 and 209 coyotes respectively in the two previous years. Randy Martin, executive director of the Central Aroostook Soil and Water Conservation District, gave a presentation entitled “Establishing Habitat for Pollinators.” McLaughlin announced the creation of a new Aroostook County Whitetail Deer Collaboration to buy real estate deer are using as winter habitat. It will be managed, improved and protected from being cut by timber companies.
