Oceana applauds fish farm rejection

The Maine Department of Marine Resources on Tuesday dismissed a lease application from American Aquafarms for two 60-acre pen sites in Frenchman Bay. Matt Dundas, campaign director for Oceana, said, “This is a huge victory for a healthy Maine and the people of Frenchman Bay. This project would have polluted the bay, threatening the local fishing and tourism economies. Oceana applauds Maine’s Department of Marine Resources for making this important decision. This monster fish farm had no place in Frenchman Bay.”
