One of our government’s sanctions is to shut down Russia’s ability to export its oil and natural gas. Some of our narrow-minded politicians want to open our offshore waters and government-overseen lands to expanded oil and gas production to compensate. The U.S. oil-and-gas industry is looking forward to this possibility with great desire, but they see themselves solely as fossil-fuels companies, not energy companies. They need to diversify into more solar, wind, geothermal, hydroelectric, and other renewable energy resources as they, hopefully, progressively reduce their fossil-fuels programs. ~ Bill Harmon, Benton
