Letter: Pricing carbon would reduce air pollution

PORTLAND PRESS HERALD • February 28, 2022

There are several benefits to the world transitioning to renewables quickly. If the government passes a price on carbon this would accelerate this process. First would be the decrease in greenhouse gasses. Second would be the improvement in public health. Third would be a decrease in international conflict. The world has the technology to move entirely to renewables without decreasing our standard of living. Call Sens. Susan Collins and Angus King and Reps. Chellie Pingree and Jared Golden and tell them you want them to act on the climate crisis now and to pass a price on carbon. ~ Nancy Hasenfus, Brunswick
