There must be a lot of people driving under the influence of alcohol on our rural roads, if my experience and that of my neighbors are any indication. This time of year, the preferred tipple seems to be single-shot bottles of cinnamon schnapps. These get tossed into my driveway and the snowbanks along our field, but beer cans and half pints are omnipresent. This morning I found a Corona bottle rolling around the driveway of a homeowner who is vacationing (so I know it wasn’t theirs). Conventional Maine wisdom blames this sort of thing (and lots of other things) on tourists. I am Maine-ly skeptical. ~ Ann Melious, Naples
