The Piscataquis County Soil & Water Conservation District has entered into a three-year contract with the Maine Chapter of The Nature Conservancy that focuses on implementation of stream restoration and aquatic organism passage projects. It provides significant financial aid and technical assistance to private landowners to help them upgrade road-stream crossings to improve fishway and aquatic organism passages in Piscataquis County, including for the last endangered Atlantic Salmon spawning waters in the U.S. and critical Eastern brook trout habitat.
