Sparks fly over Canadian serving on Ogunquit Conservation Commission

The chairperson for the Ogunquit Conservation Commission abruptly left a contentious Select Board meeting Wednesday, Sept. 22, that had been held in public at her request. The parties hadn't even finished their opening comments when Patience Sundaresan announced her departure with a statement warning those who remained in the meeting that she's not afraid to sue them. The pre-disciplinary proceeding was held to discuss allegations that Sundaresan had allowed someone to serve on the commission even though they don't meet the U.S. citizenship qualification to do so. "I'm now going to leave the meeting," Sundaresan said. "If you continue to discuss me, I caution you to do so only in the public setting and think very carefully about any statements or accusations you make. I will not hesitate to take legal action if it is warranted."
