Today, Greenpeace USA released a new report exposing that Big Oil companies, like ExxonMobil, Shell, and Chevron, supply plastic resin or petrochemicals to Big Brands directly or via a packaging company — including Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, and Nestlé’s single-use plastics. Though the plastic supply chain is often opaque, the investigation traced back the supply chain to show how Big Brands are enabling the fossil fuel industry’s expansion of plastic production and, in turn, helping to fuel the climate crisis.
