Mills submits plan to invest $1 billion in federal relief

The Mills administration submitted to the Legislature on Friday its proposal for spending nearly $1 billion in federal stimulus dollars. Maine will get about $4.5 billion from the American Rescue Plan passed by Congress in March to stimulate the economy. The proposed funding includes:
• $20M for agriculture
• $20M for the forest products industry
• $16M for marine industries
• $10M for seafood processors and dealers
• $4M for DEP licensing of economic development projects
• $8M for a DEP online licensing and compliance portal
• $47M for drinking water and wastewater projects
• $50M for capital maintenance in State Parks
• $20M for fish hatchery improvements
• $8 M for electricity grid upgrades
