Parker Pond Headland closed through mud season

TURNER PUBLISHING • April 4, 2021

During mud season, into May, the Kennebec Land Trust’s Parker Pond Headland in Fayette is closed to hikers to protect the fragile soil and surrounding vegetation from erosion. The nearby Torsey Pond Nature Preserve and Rosmarin & Saunders Family Forest in Readfield, or Hutchinson Pond in Manchester can be good alternatives for those who want to do some hiking on KLT land. The trust reminds hikers to walk carefully and minimize travel on wet and muddy trails until trail surfaces have had a chance to dry and harden.
