In another sign that Mainers may soon be able to reclaim some of the small pleasures of their pre-pandemic lives, fairgrounds around the state will open this summer and fall for folks to mingle with barnyard animals or snack on fried dough and apple crisp. While some of Maine’s best-known festivals – such as the Maine Lobster Festival and Bath Heritage Days – have been canceled, organizers of many of the state’s longtime summer festivals and all 26 of its fairs plan to hold them.
