Letter: NECEC’s organizers have addressed Mainers’ concerns

PORTLAND PRESS HERALD • February 26, 2021

I support New England Clean Energy Connect. Changes have been made that I believe address many of the concerns raised by Maine people. The width of the new section of the corridor has been reduced. Instead of the power lines being placed over the Kennebec River, they will be run underneath the river. NECEC has also agreed not to use herbicides to control the vegetation. Increasing the availability of power from this project will reduce the need to cut off woodlots and install high-cost solar panels, and will also reduce the need to build highways to the top of mountains to construct high-cost windmills. ~ Greg Foster, Raymond
