The group that oversees waste disposal for more than 100 Maine communities did not want to sell a Hampden trash plant to a Pennsylvania company whose CEO embellished his business’ track record. The leadership of the Municipal Review Committee had ranked Delta Thermo Energy last among three companies proposing to purchase the shuttered Coastal Resources of Maine plant in Hampden. But the bondholders that funded the plant’s construction and control its sale went ahead with the first steps of selling to the Pennsylvania company anyway.
