We have over 66 miles of coastline in Brunswick. While that may seem like plenty of places to enjoy the water, one of the challenges is access. Rather than seeking out a drive-up option, you can find coastal nooks and crannies that are true connections between land and water. Maquoit Shores, managed by the town Department of Parks and Recreation, has a trail less than a mile to a tidal area with salt marsh and a rocky shore. Woodward Point, managed by the Brunswick Topsham Land Trust, has trails that meander to a tidal area that wraps around the boundary of the property. Two favorites on the former Naval Air Station managed by the Department of Parks and Recreation are the Kate Furbish East and West Preserves. ~ Susan Olcott
