Maine Woodland Owners will host its annual Forestry Forum at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12. The forum is free and open to the public, and features information about forestry and topics important to woodland owners. This year’s forum will be free and conducted completely online. Presentations on wood markets, woodland wildlife, forest carbon markets and forest pest and disease updates. Plus the results of a 30-year study on the impac of commercial forestry on bird populations. The lead researcher, John Hagan, will discuss the findings and how forest practices, including clearcutting, benef bird migration and habitat when managing for biodiversity. He will also talk about how the study’s findings can help small non-commercial forest owners make bird-friendly management decisions. January 12, 2022, 8 am, online.
